What Should be on Your Daily SEO Checklist (And Why You Should Have One)

The siren song of your SEO can’t be understated: make it tantalizing, beautiful, melodic, hypnotizing…and follow the rules of the road. It’s more math than art, but the mathematician would argue his craft is an art. So there’s that. SEO isn’t something you install and then let work its magic (we wish). It also isn’t going away; optimizing your content and website for search engines is imperative to your success. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: if people can’t find you, they can’t buy your product or service or whatever it is you’re selling. You need SEO.

Good. Now that we’ve re-established the need for SEO, let’s take a look at what you can do on a regular basis with just a short amount of time each day. Did you hear that? Daily. Small amount of time. You can do this. You need to do this.

Achy Breaky Links

Broken links are bad news. They destroy user experience and Google doesn’t like them. Bad news. If you’re running WordPress, install the Broken Link Checker plugin and fix those up regularly.

Recycle Old Content

You heard that right. You already spent time creating those blog posts: go back in there and update them. Make them relevant, give them a facelift, and add in anything that’s missing. If they’re already perfect and gained traction socially, repost them. Chances are if people liked them in the past, they’ll like them again.

And while you’re in there, make sure your titles, URLs, and metas are in good shape. Confusing and unclear is no good. Clear, concise, and engaging is what you’re after.

Connect and Kindle that Fire

If you don’t keep your face out there on social media, the fire for your brand dies out. Keep it going by frequent posting and engagement. It only takes a minute to drop in an article, comment, or pithy post that your audience will love. Link back to your site to drive up traffic.

Know Your Competition

Who’s doing what you’re doing, but better? Check them out. Gather intel. Do reconnaissance. Figure out what it is that’s working for them and put it into practice on your website. Don’t be a copycat, but intelligently research what your audience wants to hear about. Then give it to them with your voice, experience, and expertise.

…then Befriend Them

Backlinks from successful, high traffic blogs are gold for your SEO. Build relationships, comment on content, and connect via email if you’re able. See if you can guest post on their blog or if they’re interested in linking to your content somewhere on their site. If your stuff is excellent, they’ll be eager to share the goods. After all, they also know that success comes from connections.

You can do it. Do you want to?

All of these tasks can be checked off in five or ten minutes each day. But we get it: sometimes you don’t have that extra five to ten. We do. And we’re experts at this. Get ahold of the Blindspot-Advisors team and we’d love to chat about giving your SEO some love with a healthy daily boost.
